What I think people are failing to see, Is that the case that I purchased, ISN'T that big, I can fit it easily in my gym bag with all my change of clothing, But this way when I'm in a hurry or if I toss my bag or it falls off a table or any of the freak unexpected things that happen to your stuff when you least expect it.
That case will hold up to it.
Yeah, I know, It's a much bigger case than a simple eye glasses case, But a Ferrari is a much faster car than the speed limits on any high way in the US?

touch screen is usefull for mobile devices because you don't have any place to put a screen, mouse and keyboard. But desktops you have room for keyboard and mic so i don't see this happening in imacs.

The negative for me is the tiny caveat at the bottom of the article. Apple releasing 8-core Mac Pros this month? Highly doubtful, in my opinion.
Also, negative sometimes just means you don't believe it (as in this case) not that it's a "negative" announcement.

If not, and each person decides what criteria they will use, then the rating really does not mean much. Maybe it does not anyway? I was thinking it was a non-scientific barometer of how people perceived the technology.

Would be interesting to see the trajectory of sales. Jobs usually shows such a graph at the keynotes - anyone got the data to post to see if the trend is slowing and by how much?

Is "developer preview 2" the same upgrade that shows up with Software Update (using the developer preview 1)?
That was only about 2mb in size -- downloaded and installed in a matter of a few minutes.
After installation, it shows up as "build 11A390".
Is this the actual "dp2", or does the whole thing have to be downloaded and re-installed?

naysayers are probably more concerned with the fact that you can't look at the tv screen while fumbling for the touch controls on the ipad; physical buttons enable the player to just feel for the controls, without having to look down and miss the action on tv.
Clear plastic with cut-outs would enable a player to feel for touch controls without having to look. Attach by suction or something. Some company makes a variation already. I expect more to.

I definitely think driving a manual makes me a safer, more attentive driver.
I'm against crap that makes people lazy like adaptive cruise control, auto headlights and auto wipers and stuff like that, I suppose an automatic can fall in there too. That stuff makes drivers lazy and inattentive because they don't have to concentrate on the road.
hmm interesting as the same argument could come from the automatc driving fraction , as because you dont have to concentrate on all these gear changes , wipers headlights ...you could concentrate more on traffic
and after all you are using a Mac and OSX too or ? because it works automatic

I have an iPod Touch (still 1G) which replaced a 3G iPod. If you're looking at it strictly as a music player... I think the traditional click-wheel interface worked better than the multitouch interface does.

Thank God I sold my mini three days ago. It was a Core Duo 1.66Ghz with 1GB RAM. Luckily the buyer's already payed and I'm on my way to the post office now. Phew!!
So it was IDENTICAL to the current top of the line model, except the new one has a measly .17 GHz speed bump and 512MB LESS memory?

They always find a way to zoom in the screen and make it look nicer than what it actually is. The resolution is too grainy.

I also think that making the mini bigger makes sense. I mean the Cube was a wonderful design and a few times larger than the mini.
Both of them have external power supplies, which from an esthetic point of view isn't the most pleasing. A larger design could potentially include an interal power supply, although it might make it a good deal nosier, I'm not sure.

Is there really a big market for a 23" iMac @ 2000? I hope this rumor is bogus. I'd much rather see Apple come out with a headless Gaming mid-tower with a Core 2 Duo Extreme and X1600 card. Dual HD bays and one optical bay. AP/BT built in. 3 PCIe slots (one used by X1600). I think that would would fill a gap Apple has in their consumer line-up right now.
That would be a nice machine. But remember: Apple seems to think in black and white. For them there is nothing in between the consume and the pro.

I noticed that I had around 15.6gb on my 25gb partition just before installing the update. Afterward I have 17.32. It could be that some settings or cache or whatever in some places have been reset. I know that my Launchpad needs to have apps placed back into it, but that couldn't take up that much space(?). Could be something else I haven't seen yet.
All that I have on the Lion partition is the OS install. Even my Home directory is pointed to that on my Snow Leopard partition.

I don't think people are pumping it up at all. I personally think that people who can't drive a standard transmission, are just lazy (and that goes for my mother, and her habit of doing her makeup while driving). People only get autos, because they don't want to have to "inconvenience" themselves with pushing down on the clutch and throwing the car into the next gear; because doing so requires them to stop shoving food down their face, or to get of the damn phone. I also hate to hear people moan about how inconvenient a standard transmission is during stop and go traffic; I mean it's not that bad, and I recently took my standard transmission accord to chicago and drove in stop and go traffic for over two hours, and it was not as annoying as some would make it out to be. People are just too willing to sacrifice the fun of driving for convenience.

While I lived in Dallas and driving threw morning and evening rush hour every day in my manual I really was debating about giving up the manual and going auto because it was annoying putting up with it every day. Once or twice a week I would never of considered it but dealing with it every day I would go to work really made me consider it.
I was honestly shocked at myself when I realized that when I love driving a manual and have been driving one since I was 15. I was around 25 at the time. That should give you some reason.
My brother gave up an manual to go auto because he was dealing with traffic around his school and lot and just did not want to deal with it. he has no regrets about it. Of my family only my sister never learned out to drive a manual tranny and she has zero interest in wanting to do it.
As for me I still am driving a manual and I am pretty sure I will try to make my next car a manual tranny as one thing I can not stand is lazy automatic. I like being able to drop to a lower gear for more power when I want to. It makes passing a hell of a lot easier.

From the first article "A diesel Cruze would be about 12 percent more fuel efficient than the ECO, but diesel is about 9 percent more expensive than gasoline, eliminating the majority of the benefit." Also from the article, the ECO costs $19,000. In England, GM charges an extra $2700 for the diesel version. So it looks like you have to drive a lot of miles before you break even.
Am I anti diesel? Hardly, I bought a diesel Dodge Ram back in 1999 and still have it. At the time the initial cost was several thousand more than a gas model. Diesel fuel at that time was significantly less expensive than gasoline and the fuel economy was a lot better. I still have that truck though for my daily commute, I drive my Chevy Lumina as it gets 20 mpg in town (much better than my truck). If fuel prices keep going up, a may commute by bicycle this summer... I may do that anyway for health reasons though not if it gets too hot.
