Yeah. Gawd knows Apple hasn't done a thing with it's Mac line-up this year.

Wow, amazing how emotional people always get whenever I make a statement that could sound slightly anti-iPod... I know you love your iPod and all (I am very fond of mine myself), but over the last few years Apple has been focusing a dispropotional amount of energy into their cute little gadget which has massively boosted their profits. For those of us that don't salivate over all things iPod, I think this is too bad.

    That is all.

The word "same" never occurs in the text, which never contemplates multiple installs.

It says you can't use it in a virtual machine. End of story. End of discussion.

Vista Business and Ultimate include additional licenses to also run the same licensed copy of Vista running natively on the licensed device in a virtualization environment as well.

In other words, if you purchase or build a PC with Windows Vista Ultimate, you can use that same installation and license to install it in a virtualization environment on that same platform. That goes beyond what has been done on any other platform for virtualization, and why the limitation is specifically delineated on Vista Home:

You may not use the software installed[1] on the licensed device[2] within a virtual (or otherwise emulated) hardware system.

[1] This means "the software" (i.e., Vista Home Basic or Premium) is already installed on a licensed device.

[2] The "licensed device" is the device that Vista Home is already installed on, and that license may not be reused to also install it in a virtualization environment, which you CAN do with Vista Business and Ultimate, because Microsoft includes additional licenses specifically for virtualization use, which is why there are all these specifics about virtualization use on the lower end Vista versions in the EULA in the first place.

The Vista Business/Ultimate EULA on the same topic states:

    6. USE WITH VIRTUALIZATION TECHNOLOGIES. You may use the software installed on the
licensed device within a virtual (or otherwise emulated) hardware system on the licensed device. If
you do so, you may not play or access content or use applications protected by any Microsoft digital,
information or enterprise rights management technology or other Microsoft rights management
services or use BitLocker. We advise against playing or accessing content or using applications
protected by other digital, information or enterprise rights management technology or other rights
management services or using full volume disk drive encryption.

This is because Vista Business and Ultimate include additional licenses so that you can use the same copy, legally ALSO within a virtualization environment on that same system. This is more than is possible with any other commercial OS, from a licensing perspective. The restrictions on Vista Home are ONLY restricting you from using it in a VM on the device where it's already installed. If you buy Vista Home standalone as a retail box, and it's not installed anywhere else, you are free, legally and technically, to use it in a VM to your heart's content.

Does anyone know where to find the specs for the iMac that will list whether or not the new models have SATA III connections internally? Not interested if they didn't upgrade to 6gbps. (SATA II is 3gbps).

If SATA III, then I'll order with just 2TB and add a Vertex 3 SSD later, but if they're still SATA II, then may be a deal buster.

Anyone who would pay for such a thing may be even more disturbed than she is.

    Gross

I am an FA myself, and have turned my head in admiration towards women that would make most men say "Daaaaaaaaaamn!", but I wouldn't pay to see this. I'm not into feederism; there's usually a control/codependency issue at play, and I prefer more equity in my relationships.

As I said above, I've seen cuter SSBBWs. The "Steelers Girl" is one:
    http://www.faniq.com/images/blog/SteelersFan%5B1%5D.JPG

The "Son, I Am Moon" girl has a sweet smile too, but I can't seem to find an online image that works.
    EDIT: Found it!

It amazes me that people who claim to be closely following Apple can come up with stuff like this. Have you ever looked at an apple product? A "gesture" home button? A profile that gets thicker towards the top? Are you KIDDING me? It's a real testament to how bad most people's design sense is: even when they're trying to invent plausible rumors about Apple, they come up with the worst freaking designs in the world.

This is like all the slide out keyboard rumors, etc., that always seem to come up--what company do you think you're talking about? Do you REALLY think Steve Jobs is going to get up on stage and unveil a sliding keyboard as the future of the iPhone? Or a "gesture home button"? Can you imagine how absurd that would sound coming out of his mouth?

Just because you have to keep the news flowing doesn't mean that you have to broadcast (and try to partially defend) any ludicrous product rumor that comes your way. I've got your next killer headline: "iPhone 5 to feature stylus, four capacitative buttons".

Are the Transcends pretty good cards? I need to get some high capacity SD cards for some read only storage, and I've never had any experience with SDHC cards.

    Where'd you pick these up?

I got this one off of amazon.

Transcends in general are pretty good, but nots as good as lexar and sandisk I find. This class 10 card is not truly class 10 I hear...the speeds don't reach as high as the sandisk extremes. However, I picked up this card because I have a 16gb class 6 card that has served me well for about a year now, and is still kicking despite heavy use. The cost and my previous experiences with the brand made it a nice choice for me. For read only I think it is a great choice. For use with dslrs and high speed writing, I might look into the sandisk extreme class 10 instead.

$1000 worth of a beating he'd get if i were his parent. Luckily for kids, i hate them and would never have one. Ever.

I'd elect to send him to law school to make good on the debt. But then he'd run the risk of turning into a Washington politician. Now *that* would be a tragedy.

I might go back tomorrow... but unlikely. We'll see. I should've just gone to FI in the first place instead of going to the Irvine Spectrum, that way I would've landed the one that I wanted, ATT 64gb, four out of five people got this morning.

Oh well, I'm not sweating it too much as I am still one of the first on the reservation list at my Best Buy.

    Finally, a quad core desktop class machine (in processors only I suppose) with ample I/O and a decent . . . . for Apple . . . . price.

Shocked that Apple would give us TWO TBolt ports on the 27" with quad core across the line.

The $1700 has my cheap side tingling but my professional side is telling me to wait for a Mac Pro update so I can at least consider a machine I can expand myself.

On the plus side, that 21.5" is not a bad machine for the price.

Huh, I notice "Wireless keyboard and mouse" is no longer an option for BTO iMac... thats odd. You'd think they'd at least keep the regular bluetooth mouse there until they figure out what to charge for the BTO bluetooth MM.

What is with all the pop up warning on safari. Warning you have tabs open do you want to quit? Warning, you have text if field do you want to quit? You know what? I don't press apple-q on accident, in fact I'd say you'd have to do that on purpose. All these pop-up and confirms, well I fear it's become more windows like if you will. Pretty soon no one will read the things. I sure hope you can turn the things off, or hope they change it.

For those who remember, when apple had an early release or beta of OS X, they put the apple logo right in the middle of the top bar, not to mention it did nothing and was completely non functional. Glad they didn't go with that. I'm hoping they do away with these confirm buttons

Can't an OS be simple to use anymore?

You're not excited about time machine? Seems like a killer app to me. I've never seen a backup system that looked better implemented. For the huge number of us who don't have a backup system in place but know that we should, that alone makes Leopard worth the price of admission.

if you buy headphones for the style, you shouldn't be buying pairs that cost three digits.

Wouldn't it be the opposite? If you buy them based on style, you'd have to spend more.

This couldn't be further from the truth. TB is so much more versatile than USB can really ever be with tons more speed

I've seen what TB can do and it's great. But what I'm saying is that it will be HARD for TB to step into a USB-dominated computer industry and just kill USB altogether from all angles. Will TB be faster than USB 3.0?...in real world use by 90% of the consumers/prosumers out there? Maybe. Maybe not. It's like asking Bluray to come in and just dominate the DVD market...it's been trying and 3+ years BluRay is doing well, but the average Joe understands he needs to re-purchase all this movies as well as purchase a hi-def tv and stereo receiver to take advantage of all the features of Bluray (I love Bluray, by the way). It's time, money, and not everyone sees the value or HAS A NEED for that value.

Will people throw out all their USB devices and twiddle their thumbs waiting for TB devices other than hard drives (cameras, printers, video cams, keyboards, mice, flash keys,)? No. Of course not.

Speed vs. Speed is 1 argument...versatility is another. But again, what I'm really saying is to look around you and ask yourself if the world is just going to dump USB technology for TB? Nope. TB will likely coincide with USB 3.0 just like eSATA and Firewire.

We'll see in a few years where we are.

I chose you, Plutonius, cause I liked the sound of your screen name. It reminds me of a Roman name. There is no mysterious protecting of someone else. On day one the voting is pretty much a crap shoot, and unfortunately, it looks like your number came up.

Are you sure it wasn't UK forces who eliminated him? Either way, you gotta say "he was killed by allied forces".

So who gets the bounty? IIRC there was a $25 million price on his head.
