On the other hand, on the GPU side, you have a 80/100 (which is what the NVIDIA 320m is) and we see a 30% performance drop, that will result to a 42.5/100.Wrong math. 30% of 80/100 is 24/100 so you end up with 56/100, not 42.5/100.
I see the current MBA owners make every effort to praise their machine and brand the next one useless. For the casual user the c2d MBA and SB MBA will be absolutely identical. Neither the faster CPU нор the slower GPU will make your web browsing any faster/slower, document editing will be the same. Still the MBA will be your travel companion. Picking a MBA to be the one and only computer in a home environment is kinda ridiculous - for less amount of money one can get an iMac which is far more convenient with its larger screen - for gaming, videos or whatever. Besides, it is very portable, too, i move mine in my home all the time.

One thing I'm surprised we haven't gone into is the fact that there are starving kids in Africa, and this gluttonous woman is unnecessary gorging food that could really be going to someone else who needs it more. It isn't as if she needs 30k calories to survive.
Whether she eats 300 or 300,000 calories will have no affect on that. Current food production is more than enough to meet world needs, but for numerous reasons, produced food is often used for applications other than human consumption.

I am a VS2005 c# developer (Compact Framework) and in the process of switching to Mac.
I am currently working exclusivly on a Dell PC, and toying with the idea of throwing away that ugly piece of plastic, and getting a shiny new mac book pro.
Now here is the thing : how do i keep the great performance i currently have on my Dell ? (bootcamp is out of the question since I do not want to keep booting my machine to check emails etc...)
Will VMWare cut it ? I head some discussion on the poor performace Parallels has when it comes to disk access (compiling is disk intensive).
Any thoughts ? did any one here try it ?
I've been doing full time C# development on Intel Macs (iMac, MacBook and MacBook Pro) for about 6 months now. I use Parallels (only because vmware is not available yet) and have no performance problems. Visual studio is not graphically intensive, which is probably the only area where virtual environments suffer these days.
There are a few quirks that you'll have to work around, such as the F9-F12 keys being mapped in OS X, so if you use these keys for debugging then you'll probably want to remap them, but that's not a big deal, but generally the experience is very good. And of course you can tab between Windows and OS X so that you can have your email and other stuff where it works best and only development stuff in Windows.

I am not too keen on this "cartoony" 3D effect Apple seem to be going for.

It really does seems as if the cutesyeness of the iOS is spreading over to OSX.
I'd prefer a clean modern OS with usability first and foremost.

For all iPhone/AT&T users in northern NJ and NYC area, can you verify that you experience around 30% of dropped calls?? is this true??

[The Microsoft music player could be a huge success if Microsoft wants it to be. MS could offer them at such a low price they they would sell fast. Of course MS would loose a pile of money on each unit but why would they care if the goal is to run the competition out of bussenis. A $50 player with 10 GB of space would pretty much kill the iPod.

One of the things I used to hate about Windows were those programs that used their own butt-ugly skins. Seems that Lion is moving in that direction as well.

Not a single analyst has explained WHY this would be better for Apple than simply selling more Apple TVs. They just say it like it makes sense and expect us to believe them.
I'm sorry, but that's not good enough.
WHY would Apple want to take on shipments of large, expensive packages?
WHY would Apple want to limit their market for a new product to people who want an entirely new TV?
WHY do you think Apple cares more about what logo is on the back of the TV that by what software is showing up on the screen?
And WHY isn't the Apple TV good enough for the goal of getting the iOS and iTunes worlds into the living room?
I think the changes to the latest Apple TV is a sign of where Apple wants to be headed. The next Apple TV will be even smaller and come free when you buy a Mac, iPad, or iPhone. Wait and see! Just like giving e-mail away helps Google's ecosystem, so does getting Apple TVs into people's houses help Apple's ecosystem.
Selling some $2,000 TV doesn't help with that.

Actually it is because a 2 year old iPhone is better than any Android device out there.
We all know the iPhone 4 is streets ahead of any other smartphone, but the 3GS provides a superior experience as well. It is not about spec sheets, it is about performance, software, reliability and the rest.
I agree with others that it is very telling that the 3GS outsells every single android iPhone on the market. That tells me people just buy random Androids when they go to buy a phone because they are cheaper or on deal, or if they don't have a choice to get an iPhone.
It is not like the general consumer is going "Wow this HTC magicamalcallit is so awesome. I tell all my friends to get it." or "This Samsung Soslightynotasbad is really an awesome phone and people are eating them up."
They might as well not even put labels on android phones. They are essentially a commodity compromised of a big pile of iPhone copycats with an inferior ecosystem. It almost seems like Cell Phone stores require people buying android devices to do so blindfolded.

Old news, she tries to maintain a 12k calorie diet/day. She's going for a record. She was all the rage last summer.
Guilty or not guilty has nothing to do with eating right/wrong. Eat what you want, just make sure to keep your calorie absorption within limits (metabolism + physical activity) and you'll keep an healthy weight. There's nothing wrong with sugar/fat/alcohol and other non-"good for you!" foods and ingredients, it's just that these tend to be much more calorie dense and thus are much less filling per calorie eaten, so you end up ingesting much more to get that "full" feeling you should never get anyhow (if you fell stuffed, you over-ate).
It's all about quantity. I baked a cake and made some very delicious gingerbread cookies for christmas. I ate 2 types of "tourtieres" + turkey + deserts + tons of appetizers at the christmas diner. I didn't gain a single a pound.

Me too. I didn't realize it has been 5 years since I bought my last pair of blue jeans. I only have 2 pairs of blue jeans, and 1 pair of dark greys. I don't wear jeans all the time like some people do, so I never think of replacing at least one of those. One pair definitely doesn't fit anymore, while I love the other pair (but they fit rather "meh").
I'm the total opposite. I buy a new pair of jeans every few months. Only own 2 pairs of slacks. I'm not at the point in my life where I should be dressing up every day. :)
Anyways, I'd love one of these, but it's not happening. :p
