Ok so herez the update. I went to the INS office and gave them all the details. and since I was supposed to travel out of the country in 3rd and 4th week of March, I requested the lady that if possible can you ask them to give me a date either before March 14th or after March 30th. She made a note of this and said that I should be expecting the FP notice soon.
So I get the FP Notice yesterday with an appointment date of 20th March. Great ... now I cant even go for the appointment. I guess will have to reschedule it.
I've read that its ok to reschedule the appointment just once but not more than once. Any advice on this would be really helpful.

You can reschedule it as many times as you need. There is no limit. However, going by my experience, rescheduling third time will have the USCIS put your request at the bottom of the pile and it takes for ever to get the 3rd appointment letter.
Like in my case, go to a not-so-busy ASC (preferably in the non-urban area) and they will do your FP without a need to reschedule.

1) The award you submitted was academic in nature. USCIS maintains that student awards such as fellowships, scholarships do not meet this criteria. Do you have anythingelse that is nationally recognized? Show me the evidence.
2) You submitted your work at research meetings. That is what researchers are supposed to do. How is your work is above and beyond what is out there in those meetings? "Consequently, it does not follow that all scientists who are asked to present their findings enjoy sustained acclaim in their field". Show me how your presentation history exceeds others.
3) Show the clear evidence that you have performed a leading and critical role in your organization.
4) You published several papers. But scientists are supposed to publish and dessiminate their work. Please resubmit updated citation listing. Please submit objective listing that your publication history exceeds the rest of the field.
Gurus... do I have a chance with these questions. I don't have any other national or international award such as Presidential Medal or Nobel Prize.
My presentation at international conferences are posters. Nothing great such as plenary talk.
I can submit more evidence of publications and citations.
Letter about my role and responsibilities as leader in my institution.

Sorry Man I never posted a reply to the substituting for gradients. But your latter image was much better with image swap (instead of gradient). Doing your navigation in flash would be an excellent idea (instead of mapped images). I am thinking of writing a tut on how to make better gradients without using gradients....you think peeps would be interested? This technique has produced astounding results for me....I am trying to work on the grunge thing I jsu cannot produce anything cool....by the way me2 is very cool.

Hello,
recently i got my H1B extension. Going to India for visa stamping in my passport.
Can you please tell me if I book tickets suppose Lufthansa which halts @ Frankfurt, will I be getting any problems because I am not having visa stamping? Do I need transit visa?

I have asked about whether I need to wait for the AP, but my lawyers have said I have to wait until the fingerprinting is done and I have the travel document before I leave..!!! Maybe I need to ring the immigration department again and confirm once again. I keep getting different information from different people..!!

If you don�t want to go out of USA then you can apply for change of status to change from L1b to H1 or you can go out of USA and get H1b stamping done.

Hi everyone:
I have an unusual situation concerning my friend's mother. When he got his green card (about 10 years ago) he filed the green card application for his mother that lived (and still lives) abroad, hoping to alleviate the woes of her getting a short-term traveller's visa every time she traveled to see him.
She received her green card about 4 years ago, but she doesn't want to live in the US for more than a month. Unfortunately it also gets more and more expensive for them to make her travel to US every year, thus pushing her into a violation of her Permanent Resident status and of the recurring Re-entry Permits (that now shrank to a single year).
My friend now wants to suggest his mother to relinquish (i.e. give up) her permanent status but his fear is that once done she will not be able to return back to US to visit him. (He has already become a citizen and is not planning to return to his home country.)
Does anyone here have any suggestions of what could happen if she gives up her permanent resident status?

So I am in the process of the renewing EAD & Applying for AP for the first time.
I have couple of questions..
do you get Finger Printing for EAD Renewal ?
do you get Finger Printing / Biometrics for first time applying of AP [Advance Parole]

So my status doesnt change until my I 485 is approved- any idea how long that will take? My H 1B expires in Nov of 2007 should I get an extension? Thank you for your replies- Lisa

GE is not a person. All of GE employees as well as share holders pay taxes on their income. Why do you want to double tax the companies and make them go out of business? Thats one reason companies have to setup operations in tax haven countries.
It's as if the wife has to pay taxes on her salary and then the husband has to pay taxes on the pocket money he gets from his wife as monthly allowance to run the house hold. (Just reversed the traditional places of husband and wife for fun).

As the discussion of immigration bills is heating up, we have a need for a format of email (preferably culled from immigration voice home page). We need to continue the media contact blitz because many of these media folks don't know the issues pertaining the legal immigrants; in particular GC and I-485 issues.
I have already emailed this idea to 'contact us' email of immigration voice.
I have attached a sample media format, that we can work today and finalize.
