The information that is provided in this post is relevant as of Friday May 15, 2009. This is coming from our local AILA chapter Chair.
As many of our readers know, at the conclusion of the Marriage based adjustment of status interview, the immigration officer, upon approval, used to stamp the immigrant's passport with the I-551 (Green Card) stamp. This used to be an immediate proof that the case was approved and the applicant could work and travel using this stamp. As the actual production of the Green Cards became so fast, the practice of stamping applicants' passports stopped as well in most states across the nation.
It seems that things are changing, hence the recent notice from USCIS. According to the notice we received, the Green Card Facility in KY is undergoing renovation. USCIS' card production capability will be reduced over the next several months. They will expand the use of ADIT Temporary Green Card stamps as temporary evidence of LPR status.
The Stamps will be valid for 12 months (previously only 30 days validity was given). Work permits and travel documents (advance paroles) will be collected at the interview from the clients. The stamp will be the only proof of work and travel authorization in such cases. It looks like this policy will continue for the next 6-12 months. This is a nationwide policy and is not taking place only in San Diego.

Remember to point it out at FP, and they will also ask you to phone USCIS and correct it. You could phone USCIS first, and then you might find that FP has it already corrected in the computer.
Once USCIS update it they will send you a letter to say that they made a change to the file, this is just FYI.
My wife's DoB had a typo. It was spotted at FP office.
Of course I am assuming some obvious typo, not a FP notice for Jim Smith and your name is Ramkrishnan Singh. :-)

InThemoment is right. I got I-134 from my attorney for 485 filing..

That is good information, thanks. Just one question:
- Was the I-134 part of your I-485 application, or was it part of your dependent's?
I am asking this because there is no instruction regarding such an affidavit in the Initial evidence section of the I-485.

I must say it made me spend some time to figure out what it is. Initially I thought it was something square floating in a container of water or a pond. Then I studied it for 30 sec. or so and realized it's a waterfall. Then I found myself really studying it to grasp what you're showing. From the "does it catch your eye and hold you" perspective, it worked for me. From the "this is a beautiful shot that I have to print and hang on a wall, I'd probably vote no. But I am going to go back and look at it a second time because I'm intrigued.

My PD is 08/04/06, and my AP is expiring on June 2nd, I probably will have to travel sometimes June end. I am in a fix if I should go ahead and apply for Ap now. My PD will be current begining June 1st. I heard it may take 1 week to 60 days to get GC after your date becomes current, Do you guys think it's good idea to just apply for AP just in case?

You may apply for AP at any time right? If you apply now, it is very unlikely that you will receive before your June end travel. And if you don't get your GC in june what will you do ? see, it is very easy to ask confusing questions. :)

as far as I know medical assistant position does not require a degree and hence does not get entitled to highly skilled H1 category. Once this is not a skilled profession, one will have to prove that there are no citizens/gc candidates available for this position.
There could be a category of H1 visa for this. talking to lawyer is ur best bet.
FYI:
My wife is B.A.M.S, after researching all options, started studying nursing (accelerated bechelor of nursing ). During her research she did not find any other choice worthwhile!

My Lawyer said that the Premium Processing for I-140 will be again available from 08/16/2007, he said he knows that 100%. Did someone have some information about this ??. Can this be true??
If this is true then some of the concurrent filers will try to upgrade them to PP.I will be surprised if they do that. But crazier things have happened.

I'm currently working on an H1B (12th year) for my original sponsorer. I also have an EAD which i have not used yet. My spouse is working on an EAD.
I'm planning to start a new business with a couple of friends of mine (who are GCs and citizens). How do i go about it?
Do i have to make my wife a co-owner and work in this venture as a 1099 or can i be a co-owner in this company and use my EAD for it? Please note that i do not want to quit my full-time current job with my employer(sponsorer).
Any help on this would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, we cannot search by name. You may want to provide keywords used in your question so members can find your question. I have searched for all questions related to legal immigration in all categories and weighed my opinion one way or another.
Let's hope the IV core takes up this issue and writes up a carefully crafted question so we can all benefit from the resulting voting.

gurus..inputs plz!
did my first MS, got First OPT ...worked on OPT..didnt find a job..
went back did my second MS..got another OPT...and moved into non-quota H1 (research field at a hospital)
now plan to go back and get an MBA..
1.) will i get an OPT after my (fulltime) MBA??? (as i already have 2 OPT's)...is there a limit of OPTS?
2.) Since i was a non-quota H1..will i have to apply for the quota H1 when and come out of MBA...which is basically a lottery system now!!! (and if i dont hit the jackpot that will put me out of status immediately after )
any inputs are appretiated!!

As I understand a new bill has to be introduced in Senate and in House of Representatives. Both these bills will have to be passed and then reconciled for differences.
Is it true that all CIR legislation that was introduced in Senate last year is now dead and that a new bill will have to be introduced in Senate as well?

I did some research and found out that American sentinel is not in Sevis approved list:

There are some website that help you to prepare tax return, for example Finalysis.com, myIBSN.com.
These guys are filing 2106 form for claiming employee job expenses and Misc deductions and getting more refund.
In my case my offshore company (in India) has office in NY/NJ and I am working in Georgia state and for whole year 2007 i was working in Georgia state and I had never been to NY/NJ.
In this scenario can i claim for rent/meals/commutation/laundry?
There are many applicants filing through these tax preparer's approx 2,50,000 are these agencies reliable?

agree with the intrigue. might be more readily apparent if more of the foreground were included. but maybe the mystery is part of it. it held my attention til i figured it out too.
